Overlapping-calibration of wide-swath altimeter baseline errors using two satellites formation flying design

The sea surface height (SSH) measured by future wide-swath altimetry satellites contains observation error due to baseline measurement, which is called SSH_Error_Baseline. It a huge challenge for satellite engineering maintain such high accuracies of the roll and length in orbit ensure that SSH_Error_Baseline can be maintained below 1 cm. Therefore, how effectively reduce extremely important. In order solve existing problem, an innovative overlapping-calibration method proposed based on two-satellite formation flight design with overlapping swath. this study, differences SSH data observed these two area so small it ignored, dominates difference. Then, parameters well estimated adopting optimal inverse method. A total 9 groups observing system simulation experiments (OSSEs) have been carried out, they respectively indicate different pessimistic theoretical scenarios measurement systems. According results, most scenarios. Regarding advantage method, applied all along-track without requiring application additional auxiliary (i.e. model data, derived from nadir altimetry). when are simultaneously designed, scheme paper recommended, especially measurements cannot meet expected accuracies.
